Greetings RISD Alumni,
I hope you are healthy, safe and following a creative passion, no matter where in the world you are today. My thoughts are with you and the 31,000 alumni around the world, as well as with the nearly 2,000 students who are on campus safely preparing for year-end crits.
I am especially mindful of our alumni who are citizens of the United States and are in the final stages of a contentious election cycle, and for our many students who are participating in or observing their first U.S. election. We feel great compassion for our friends in the US. The effects of this election are being felt everywhere.
The RISD Alumni Association affirms RISD’s values, regardless of the outcome of the election. We know that true democracy requires the active participation of artists and creatives. We are fortunate to have been trained and prepared to offer unique insight to every domain, including politics. This work continues on RISD’s campus today, and it will be just as true the day after the election as it is today.
I wish the very best to all of our friends, colleagues and classmates in the weeks ahead.
Sincerely,

Donald Choi BArch 82 P 07 President RISD Alumni Association
