Dear RISD Alumni,
It’s hard to believe that RISD’s Commencement is just around the corner. The college announced today that Virgil Abloh will be the commencement speaker, as well as receiving an honorary degree. Other honorary degree recipients for this year’s commencement include Elizabeth Diller, Shepard Fairey 92 IL and Lynn Nottage. June 5 is sure to be a momentous occasion for the Class of 2021. Although it will look a little different this year than in years past, it is a RISD milestone that we all share. I know that you will join me in wishing heartfelt congratulations to this year’s graduating class for all of their accomplishments and best wishes for a successful future.
I am also happy to share that the Presidential search is well underway. The Presidential Search Committee has completed their six-week listening tour that included over 20 sessions attended by more than 200 participants, including alumni. Additionally more than 400 participants completed the survey sent by the committee to the community. The search committee greatly appreciated the honest and sincere thoughts, insights, observations and hopes that you shared.
I hope you enjoy the coming spring and the warm weather that comes with it.
