RISD Alumni Newsletter
May 2022

Dear Friend,

Commencement + Reunion Weekend is fast approaching. Although I’m sorry I won’t be able to join the celebration, please know that on that first weekend in June, RISD will be on my mind. I may be in Hong Kong, but my heart will be on RISD Beach!

So far, over 1,000 alumni and guests have registered for events. I encourage you to take a minute and check out the schedule—with over 75 events and activities, there is truly something for everyone. For those of you who are on campus, take a moment to visit Fleet Library for an exhibit on 50 years of RISD’s Design Diploma (do you still have yours?). On Friday evening, stop by Market Square for the Retired Faculty and Staff reception to say hello to a favorite professor. Then, attend one of six affinity group receptions before heading to our brand new traditions: The Lantern Lighting and All Campus Dance: The Artists' Party, held on the banks of the Providence River.

There will be more fun, family-friendly activities on Saturday and Sunday, including Continuing Education (CE) workshops for youth and adults. The adult workshops focus on courting inspiration and incorporating mindfulness into your art practice, while the youth workshops are designed to be fun explorations in creativity.

And of course, after Commencement, we welcome the Class of 2022 into our alumni community. Commencement + Reunion reminds me how proud I am to serve as your Alumni Association President and how grateful I am to be able to watch our community continue to grow.

Celebrating Our Volunteers

Last month, we honored and celebrated all the volunteers who support RISD through their time and talent in recognition of National Volunteer Month. We are who we are because of you. Thank you.
