RISD Admissions is looking for alumni volunteers who can review on behalf of RISD during their in-person and virtual National Portfolio Review Days this fall. Alumni reviewers will receive $25/hour.

This week, 484 undergraduate and 201 graduate students from around the world flocked to campus to mark the beginning of a new academic year. New student orientation included a welcome from President Crystal Williams, a convocation event featuring poetry and more.

Join RISD alumni for a once-in-a-lifetime immersion in Icelandic design and culture. Explore the creative approach to life flourishing amid Iceland’s stunning volcanic landscape and dive into DesignMarch, Reykjavík’s lively annual design week.

Project Open Door students were back on campus this summer. Local high school students participated in enhanced programming built on RISD’s relationship with the Steel Yard and funded by a Community Collaboration Grant through RISD’s Center for Community Partnerships.

With the help of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Narragansett Bay Estuary Program, Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture Emily Vogler and Northeastern University Assistant Professor José R. Menéndez MFA 17 GD are tackling issues affecting the Blackstone River.

What do the Tomaquag Museum, the president of Ghana, the Taiwan Youth Association for Transitional Justice and the environmental organization Green Ethiopia have in common? They all benefited this summer from the creative thinking and fresh ideas of this year’s Maharam STEAM Fellows.
